ORCHARD GROVE AT COMEYTROWE, TAUNTON


Orchard Grove is a large-scale, 2,000 home community being built on the south-west side of Taunton, between the existing parishes of Comeytrowe and Trull. This site is located to the South West of Taunton within walking and biking distance of the town centre, enjoying far reaching views of the Blackdown Hills (Area of Natural Outstanding Beauty AONB) and glimpses of the Wellington Monument. We’re working closely with Taylor Wimpey and Vistry Partnerships on this exciting new community that’ll also benefit from approximately 13 acres of new employment space accessed off the A38, a new primary school, a care home, sports pitches, allotments, a local centre and 300-space Park & Ride facility. 

We're excited to continue to support the development of this exciting project with the civic square and new employment areas on the horizon, which will help to put Orchard Grove on the map in terms of new businesses moving to the area and having vibrant community spaces servicing both residents and those working in the area.

Groundfix has been proudly delivering the infrastructure needed since the project started back in 2020 and so far, some of our key deliverables have included:

EARTHWORKS

We continue to deliver on the bulk earthworks needed across the site, with us having already completed around 35% of the planned work needed to support the transformation of the site into a thriving community.

ROADS

278 works allowing entry to the development via a new roundabout – alongside the main through road within the development and some of the smaller residential roads too.

DRAINAGE & ATTENUATION

Drainage and attenuation for the entire site – with 13 attenuation ponds completed so far, alongside a foul pumping station and a culvert.

SERVICES

As you’d expect the services required to support a development of this size have been vast, and we’ve delivered Gas Mains work, Electric Supply and Water alongside the relevant suppliers.

PARK & RIDE

Our team are currently finishing work on a circa 300 space Park & Ride facility located on the outskirts of the development. This facility includes 292 parking spaces, 18 disabled bays and 10 EV charging bays.

INDUSTRIAL ESTATE

Our team have started the earthworks on the site of the old industrial estate ahead of the implementation of the infrastructure needed for the new homes planned for this area; including Roads, Drainage (with 3 attenuation ponds planned), retaining walls and 278 Bus gate works.
