MEET THE TEAM: DOUG SMITH

Introducing Doug Smith, our Project Manager for our work at Orchard Grove - a large-scale, 2,000-home community being built on the south-west side of Taunton, between the existing parishes of Comeytrowe and Trull.

Doug joined the Groundfix team just after we started work on the project back in August 2020 and since then he's played a key role in managing the day-to-day work on site, leading the team to deliver:

• Around 35% of the total expected bulk earthworks for the site
• 278 works allowing entry to the development via a new roundabout alongside the main road within the development (and some of the smaller roads too
• Drainage & attenuation for the entire site - with 13 attenuation ponds completed so far, alongside a foul pumping station and a culvert
• As you'd expect the services required to support a development of this size have been vast, and we've delivered gas main work, electric supply and water alongside the relevant suppliers
• Our team are finishing work on a circa 300 space Park & Ride facility located on the outskirts of the development. This facility includes 292 parking spaces, 18 disabled bays and 10 EV charging bays
• We recently started earthworks on the site of the old industrial estate ahead of the planned infrastructure work needed for the homes planned in this area - including roads, drainage (with 3 attenuation ponds), retaining walls, and 278 Bus Gate works
